Between Sunday, 11th and Saturday 17th of February 2018, I attended a week long of conducting and trumpet one-one sessions with professors from the Conservatorio Adolfo Salazar de Madrid in an Erasmus project organized by the Ghaqda Kazini tal-Banda. Together with ten other music students from various local band clubs, we will be performing with students from Scuola di Musica “Josip Slavenski” of Belgrade (Serbia) and CPM “Adolfo Salazar” of Madrid (Spain).
During the whole week, the Maltese contingent had one-on-one tuition with various tutors from the Madrid Conservatoire including trumpet tutor Luis Miguel Congosto del Pino.
During the final concert, I conducted the youth orchestra formed by all the students taking part in the exchange forming a symphonic orchestra with the young talented Serbian violinist Sofija Glavicic as the orchestra leader. I presented three pieces written by Maltese composers and a Serbian folk song which are:
Festival Overture – Christopher Muscat
Hymn from Music for a White Dove – Joseph Vella
Village Festa from Malta Suite – Charles Camilleri
Tamo Daleko – Serbian Traditional Song
